The development of the highly ambitious Városháza Forum project will start soon in the Heart of Budapest. Combining the restoration of the existing, but never completed 18th-century baroque building with new, futuristic wings is bound to create a contemporary Forum with respect to the heritage and true spirit of Budapest. Once completed, the City Hall complex will act as a micro-city, offering virtually every city function and revitalizing the Városháza of Budapest for the benefit and enjoyment of all, inhabitants and visitors alike.

Cultural activities and human encounters are the binding elements between all the different functions in Városháza Forum. The Cultural Forum is strategically located in the centre of the complex and will offer a gamut of programmes. Retail stores, cafés, restaurants and a boutique hotel are all incorporated in the project, integrating them into the existing facilities in its vicinity and stimulating traffic through the Forum where pedestrian flow from the boulevard to the Danube River will be re-opened. Easy access will be secured by an underground parking lot with an area of 28.000 m2 and a direct connection with the metro station, the site where the old city walls were excavated and are on display. This unique blend of functions will ensure a continuously bustling ambiance in this vibrant part of the city.

Though the new building complex exudes strong ties with the history of the site, the design for Városháza Forum clearly aims to usher in the future by offering sustainable and quality solutions. The great challenge this unique project presents stems from the very fact that it is to be realized with an eye for maximal sustainability and the creation of a timeless asset whose goal is to herald the future into the city of Budapest.
